CHC is an Application Service Provider (ASP) to physician's offices, allowing individual offices to access medical information stored on central servers without the need for personal computers. While Community Health needed to "lock down" certain applications and make them look exactly the same to each user regardless of where they were used, they also needed to allow each physician's office to set up their own applications for other tasks. CHC chose Neoware's NeoStation information appliances as a key component of that architecture. CHC runs applications and stores information on central servers rather than individual desktops, and allowing users to access these applications across their network from Neoware information appliances.
