Wolverhampton City Council developed the idea of the Bereavement Centre. The original bereavement database, which was developed in-house by Wolverhampton City Council, was initially migrated to a SQL Server database. It was then further developed using Microsoft ASP.NET, making it a browser-based, thin client application that can be deployed on an intranet or over the Web and is fully e-GIF compliant. For the Council, the new system has also reduced the number and complexity of its back office processes and enabled it to speed up the notification process to its partner agencies.
