As the number of remote users in enterprise networks increases, organizations are struggling to provide them with high-speed access to mission-critical applications. A major stumbling block is the way in which remote users can access networks, via low-speed dial-in or WAN connections. As a result, organizations are exploring thin-client/server computing solutions, whereby the application processing is performed by servers, utilizing remote client devices for connectivity and screen display only. The benefit of thin-client/server computing is that it allows bandwidth-independent remote access to enterprise applications even at low connectivity speeds.
