Located in northwest Indiana, Loogootee Community Schools Corporation operates three schools. A network modernization project expanded network access from computer labs to classrooms and teacher prep areas in all three schools. But the cost of new desktop computers and the prospect of hands-on maintenance for the small IT staff left the new connections untapped. Wyse Winterm thin clients combined with Citrix MetaFrame application servers helped Loogootee make an affordable transition to a more centralized computing approach. Teachers found the new system easy to use and appreciate having more time with technology to plan lessons. With uncertain budgets, the District Technology Coordinator is relieved to have a reliable and scaleable system in place.
