There are hundreds of policy research organizations in government at all levels, in corporations, academia, and in the non-profit sector, all doing long range forecasting of, or predicting, the direction of one or another issue or trend. This report is based on the consideration of government's use of long-range forecasts and it provides some suggestions on how such forecasts might be used more frequently and effectively to inform the decision-making processes.
