Program Unity is a joint initiative between the Cisco IT organization and Enterprise Communications Software Business Unit (ECSBU) to replace the existing Avaya Octel voice-messaging system with Cisco Unity technology. A Cisco Unity solution was needed quickly but the Program Unity team had to ensure sufficient program planning and preparation to minimize the effects on the end users migrating to Cisco Unity. Program Unity deployed a single Cisco Unity Voice Messaging solution across all Cisco geographic regions, replacing 160 Octel systems with a single Cisco Unity solution based on 45 Cisco Unity Voice Messaging servers.
