In 1999 Vesuvius, the world's leading manufacturer of thermal-resistant refractory products for the steel, glass and foundry industries, acquired Premier Refractories - a move that dramatically increased the company's size. Immediately following the acquisition, Vesuvius turned to Accenture for help in streamlining operations and integrating the two companies' systems and processes. Accenture worked with Vesuvius to: Design and build an ERP solution, create a centralized data center and create a centralized service center. Vesuvius expects the new way of working to reduce administrative costs, improve workforce productivity, production planning, and customer support, and enable better decision-making and future growth.
