The Association of American Publishers, Inc. (AAP) is a national trade association of the U.S. book publishing industry. As content goes digital, what are book publishers worried about? At the highest level, making eBooks work for consumers. The AAP teamed with Accenture, a firm with extensive experience in the ebook industry, to undertake the AAP Open eBook Standards Project. Based on results of an initial strategy project, AAP and Accenture then worked to identify, develop and recommend open standards and publisher requirements in three areas critical to the creation of a successful eBook marketplace: Numbering, Metadata and Digital Rights Management (DRM).
