Optical networks exploiting Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) and Wavelength Routing (WR) are promising architectures for the implementation of high-capacity IP infrastructures. Indeed, such networks permit the exploitation of the huge fiber capacity, with no need for complex processing functionalities in the optical domain. This paper presents a new methodology for the design of fault-tolerant logical topologies in wavelength-routed optical networks supporting IP datagram flows.
