In a visionary approach, METRO Group has created a store environment that pulls together all the leading edge technologies in order to provide a glimpse into what could be the shape of things to come to a supermarket. IBM has done the overall systems integration, the RFID middleware and a new kiosk information system for this ambitious project with METRO Group. The integrated RFID system enables METRO Group to streamline their supply chain, with effective inventory management throughout. Staff in the stores have easy access to information about the supermarket inventory and storage using Personal Digital Assistants.
