The BOC Group has an international portfolio of companies. BOC believed there was room for improvement in its CAM processes by defining and propagating best practice across the commercial and technical activities. The Cambridge Auto ID Centre, based within the IfM, is conducting research into RFID technology involving the design, building, testing and deployment of a global infrastructure that will make it possible for computers to identify any object anywhere in the world instantly. The benefits were strategic marketing objectives in increasing revenue and building switching costs, best operating practice and improvements in efficiency of assets and operations, legislative requirements on traceability and reduction in illicit trading.
