SOX creates the need for companies to communicate more effectively with investors. To a great extent, IRO's will be the ones responsible for making sure that the company's policies and practices are communicated clearly and succinctly to all its shareholders. Attorneys and accountants will help companies meet the letter of the law; investor relations firms will help companies provide effective communications. All solutions should be flexible and scalable, since regulatory demands for disclosure are likely to increase over time. Implementing good corporate governance practices will provide the catalyst for rebuilding investor trust.
