Our client is a large intermodal service provider supplying equipments such as containers to large railroad consortiums. Customer wanted a web based system for tracking the container movement across intermodal ramps. It desired a common interface to all railroad customers irrespective of platform differences. In addition to these the client needed an effective billing and collection solution with a provision for network alerts and support. The solution was a novel and generic algorithm and XML based business rules management module. The benefits were a highly scalable, flexible, reliable web based solution, efficient usage of equipment, reduced billing cycle times, increased container utilization, reduced idle capacity and increased customer service.
