Compass was engaged in 2002 by a leading international airline to assist with an outsourcing arrangement, under which the airline's critical Transaction Processing Facility (TPF) operations were to be managed by an organisation that runs multiple TPF operations on behalf of diverse clients. The challenges were location of the site and proximity to higher risk factors, site security, site visibility and operational risks. A scoring mechanism was applied to calculate total risk by category. The assessment results confirmed the client's concerns - the vendor's proposed solution failed to meet some important requirements. In addition, Compass defined some improvement recommendations to address some shortcomings within the client's existing operation.
