Vintela Authentication Services (VAS) and Microsoft's Windows Services for Unix (SFU) both provide a solution for integrating Unix and Linux account information with Active Directory. The purpose of this paper is to outline and compare the advantages of using VAS over Microsoft's SFU 3.5, which is now available from Microsoft as a no-cost system extension for Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003.
