AMD is a global supplier of integrated circuits. AMD's Microprocessor Division (MPD) is located in Austin, Texas. At its Texas and California locations, MPD stores design applications and files generated by those applications, and logs, plots, and images used in the design process. MPD needed a storage solution capable of scaling rapidly to provide capacity for the group's huge data storage requirement, which was expected to see exponential growth. MPD uses NetApp storage, which delivers the reliability, scalability, and performance AMD design engineers need to help meet the company's business goals. To facilitate system administration and backups, MPD uses the Snapshot feature of NetApp Data ONTAP software.
