Aviva Life Insurance Company is one of India's leading private life insurance companies. The problem was underutilization of storage resources, which, in turn, made these servers inefficient and difficult to manage. Aviva first consolidated storage on central-site DAS servers to a single NetApp storage system. NetApp storage supports a Windows environment including SQL Server 2000 databases, Oracle8i Databases, Lotus Notes and Talisma CRM programs, as well as multiple supporting applications. A second NetApp system was deployed at the remote DR site in Chennai, and NetApp SnapMirror software mirrors all data to the second NetApp system over the existing WAN to provide asynchronous disaster recovery.
