In WebLogic Server 8.1, you can run using the standard jar or the client jar. The standard jar, weblogic.jar, contains all of the software to run WebLogic Server and provides full functionality (both client and server). However, it is large in size (over 37 MB). While this is fine for a server side application, this is a large file to download for use in an applet. The client jar is much smaller in size. This paper demonstrates using JMS from an applet, including the use of an asynchronous JMS consumer, an AWT GUI, both the normal and thin client jars, Java Web Start, the applet viewer, etc.
