Content Addressed Storage (CAS) access technology addresses the requirements for managing and leveraging enormous quantities of fixed content online. Fixed content (medical imagery, audio and video, check images, contracts, and geophysical imagery) is information that has to be retained for decades, cannot change, and must be shared. However, this presents new and immediate challenges and opportunities for the IT executive. IT executives, therefore, that have a requirement to store ever expanding fixed content should examine the CAS technology to see if the current offerings ease their storage demands and requirements.
