EMC Centera technology matches content to a unique key. Any change to the content automatically creates a new unique key, without affecting the original content and its key. Legato DiskXtender provides a key management system and enables moving data to Centera, even if the application creating or accessing the data has not been ported to, or qualified with, Centera storage. DiskXtender provides users with immediate online access to the moved data. Importantly, Centera is extremely scalable, freeing IT managers from having to worry about whether accumulating fixed content will overwhelm the storage infrastructure.
