Attorney General Shurtleff quotes the U.S. General Accounting Office as estimating about 750,000 Internet fraud complaints nationally in 2002, at a loss of over $1 thousand-million. Shurtleff acknowledges that even one person with evil intent can cause untold millions of dollars in damages. Recently, Shurtleff was appointed by the National Association of Attorneys General to be its representative to the International Association of Prosecutors. His goal in working with the international group is to establish contacts with prosecutors worldwide on cyber crime.
