Grand Haven, Michigan became the first city in the USA to be completely covered end-to-end with Wi-Fi Internet access. Using Proxim's wireless solutions, the Wi-Fi network significantly improves quality of life in the city by allowing subscribers to cost-effectively connect to the Internet or place mobile Voice over IP telephone calls nearly everywhere within the 6 square mile city. Wi-Fi Internet access is available for students in the local schools and library, and provides the ability to freely roam across the city. Classrooms can be located anywhere in the city without losing the ability for students to connect to the Internet or the school network.
