C.P. Technology (C.P.) is a provider of Information Appliance (IA) solutions. C.P. Technology identified a major need for a communications infrastructure that would allow users to manage home systems and devices remotely. C.P. turned to IBM for a solution based on IBM WebSphere Everyplace Suite Embedded Edition and Linux. The WebSphere software serves as the foundation for C.P.'s new IA product, providing convenient Web and mobile access to smart household controls. Called the Service Gateway, the appliance not only allows consumers to connect, manage and scale home device applications over the Internet, but also removes much of the complexity inherent in today's home technologies.
