HP has partnered with Microsoft to provide information about the benefits of running SAP Applications on SQL Server 2000 (64-bit). Large SAP applications implemented in a 32-bit environment are encountering performance limitations due to constrained memory resources. Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (64-bit) addresses the memory limitations of the 32-bit system as well as supporting new features of SAP R/3 Enterprise. With support for Unicode, SAP Business Warehouse, and SAP Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO) Applications, the 64-bit environment provides a more robust implementation of SAP Applications. This paper is intended to help the reader understand how a 64-bit implementation enhances the performance of SAP applications in specific scenarios.
