Tokyo University is a leader in advanced scientific research and education in the fields of mathematics, physics, information science and software engineering. The Information Media Center has a Grid Computing environment with Sun Grid Engine, Enterprise Edition running on a Sun Fire V880 server and a number of Sun Blade 1000 workstations. The center leverages this Grid to conduct various experiments and develop application software for data mining, drug design, etc. The Grid enables more efficient use of computing resources, and its capacity can be easily expanded.
