TCP/IP’s sysplex functions are relatively uninteresting unless the availability and workload balancing can be exploited by applications and middleware, with few or no changes to the exploiting software, though the software could choose to make changes for enhanced synergy. The purpose of this paper is to describe the exploitation of selected OS/390 and z/OS TCP/IP sysplex functions, particularly Dynamic VIPAs and Sysplex Distributor.
