The State of Georgia and its technology arm the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) embarked on an ambitious plan to improve its citizens' experience of interacting and conducting business with their government. GTA decided to create a portal, which would provide a seamless experience across government agencies to all constituents, while maintaining their privacy and security. GTA selected the Sun Fire platform, including Sun Fire 6800 and 280R servers running the Solaris 8 Operating System and Sun StorEdge hardware and software technology as the basis for its platform infrastructure. The decision included the selection of Sun Cluster software for redundant availability and reliability.
