IPv6 solves many of the problems caused by the very successful adaptation of IPv4. IPv6 introduces a host of new features such as larger address space, efficient and extensible IP datagram, efficient route computations and aggregation, improved host and router discovery, new stateless and stateful address auto configuration, finally matching the required security for VoIP datagrams. This paper reviews the effect of the IPv4 to IPv6 smooth transition on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) quality of service delivery.
