Luxembourg divides its national IT infrastructure into four major computing centers: one for statistics, one for police work, one for social security and a fourth - CIE - for all other government ministries. The challenge for Luxembourg was to provide citizens with integrated access to a complete range of e-government services in accordance with the eEurope Portal Project. With IBM z/OS V1.4, WebSphere Application Server V4.01 and DB2 Universal Database V7, the agency leveraged its existing knowledge of zSeries systems to accomplish the move to the z900 swiftly. A storage area network (SAN) built around the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server (ESS) provides storage support.
