OFDM modulation has become an attractive solution for many digital communication systems e.g. digital terrestrial television, ADSL and wireless LANs (IEEE 802.11 and HyperLan/2). It has a few important advantages such as: bandwidth efficiency, immunity against intersymbol interference and the potential usage in the systems approaching the channel capacity. However, the OFDM modulation also exhibits drawbacks such as: low immunity against frequency selective fading and a high peak-to average power ratio (PAPR), which necessitates the usage of a highly linear amplifier.
