One of Australia's newest and most progressive universities, the University of Ballarat is the pivotal provider of post-secondary education for Central and Western Victoria. With an eye on the potential of IP - and trust in Nortel Networks' long-standing Evergreen commitment to investment-protecting system evolution, they purchased Meridian 1 PBXs at the end of 1999, deploying one at each of the University campuses. They contracted Nortel Networks two years down the line to IP-enable the University's Meridian PBXs and - to, support high-speed, high-quality voice, video and data on a single platform - provide Gigabit Ethernet connectivity across campus locations and switched Ethernet services to the network edge.
