The University of Oslo is Norway's largest and oldest institution of higher education. But no organisation can survive on reputation alone. Back in 2000, the university devised a long-term plan of action to keep it at the forefront of modern learning. With this foresight and determination, the University of Oslo started work on developing and installing one of the most ambitious academic networks in the world. However, this surge in communication required a fault-proof infrastructure with huge storage capacity - which wasn't achieved immediately. Open Systems' proposed solution was the Nexsan ATAboy2 RAID array, each of which is populated by a series of hard drives from the Hitachi Deskstar range. Nexsan's decision to use the Deskstar was no accident - other hard drives just couldn't compete.
