Experian makes over 20 billion updates each year to the credit files of consumers around the world. In the last few years, Experian has witnessed an unprecedented growth in demand for information, most notably in its e-commerce services delivery. The highly resilient, high performance SAN infrastructure, which Experian has implemented, comprises 'best-of-breed' storage technology at every step. Complementing the two Hitachi Freedom storage systems are up to 400 connected Sun and Compaq servers, and for extended high-speed SAN capability across enterprise, Experian uses InRange switches. The backup environment comprises two Sun servers, one at each data centre, connected to two StorageTek automated tape libraries, running 9840 tape drives. VERITAS NetBackup provides the backup and restore capability.
