With the release of Windows 2000, Microsoft introduced several new printing ideas that enhance Microsoft's printing capabilities. Printers can now be searched for the in the Active Directory, a printers status can be viewed over the network using a web browser, and the addition of Internet Printing is allows print jobs to be sent using the IPP protocol. In addition to these new ideas, Microsoft has also changed the mechanism behind how Windows actually sends documents to the printer. This white paper documents the steps necessary to configure and manage a Brother printer into a Windows 2000 environment using the TCP/IP protocols.
