Independently Consistent Expression Discriminator (ICED) is a sample classification application for Microarray data analysis. While it is based on a robust algorithm, it can take a long time, sometimes even days, to complete a cross-validation test for large data sets on its development platform, Windows. A faster processing time is highly desired. ICED was enabled and optimized on an IBM POWER4 system. The benchmark results indicate that the optimized ICED code runs 2.6 to 4.0 times faster than the original code on Windows.
