During the tournament, FIFA becomes one of the world's heaviest network users and places non-stop demands on critical systems - from accreditation and security to logistics and game results. Avaya stepped onto the field and in just five months created the fastest, most efficient network ever built for the world's largest sporting event. The long equipment list reveals the complexity of the project 40,000 network connections, 10,000 communications and network devices, 25 communication servers, and more than 5,100 miles (8,000 km) of structured cabling - enough to stretch from Rio de Janeiro to Chicago.
