Rock Valley College is a two-year community college in northeast Rockford, IL, with five satellite locations, addressing a service district of 1000 square miles. Seeking to create a more interactive learning environment, many of Rock Valley's 550 faculties wanted to utilize more online and collaborative teaching methods in their classrooms. To achieve this objective, Rock Valley sought a high-speed, easily managed Gigabit Ethernet network. The college chose a solution based on 3Com's powerful, high density Switch 7700 and other 3Com Gigabit and Fast Ethernet switches. The data network enables the college to deploy classroom settings that allow students to more ably learn and collaborate with their professors, as well as supporting a breadth of service support systems.
