ALICO (American Life Insurance Company, a member of American International Group, Inc.) is one of the largest international life insurance companies in the world. The challenge was to grow in a difficult economy. The solution was to have a flexible infrastructure through web services. ALICO Japan was using IBM's WebSphere Application Server as the messaging hub. Incoming SOAP messages are routed through WebSphere for delivery to the appropriate endpoint. ALICO Japan worked with IBM to re-design its infrastructure. The benefit was that it could simplify integration facilitating enhanced collaboration through business process integration.
