A publicly held regional securities firm developed a reputation based on its solid customer service. After realizing several business benefits of its integrated application, the firm ran into a technology wall. Its SEC- and industry-mandated reporting requirements and back-up procedures were taking up too much production time. The firm also wanted to leverage the Internet as a tool for its customers, but could not offer 24x7 access because of these time-consuming, offline operational activities. To address these issues it utilized Symmetrix information storage systems and EMC TimeFinder software to create five copies of the production trading activities.
