In recent years, cable operators have delivered many new profitable data services to subscribers by upgrading their hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) networks. By mid-2003, the total number of cable modem subscribers had grown to more than 27 million worldwide, according to the InStat MDR market research group. The new Cisco 10/100 Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet ML-Series line cards, running the proven, feature-rich Cisco IOS Software, are delivering packet multiplexing and quality of service (QoS) features on the Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP).
