Today's automotive electronics provide just a glimpse of what's possible. On the horizon are systems with functions so broad that new terms, such as "Intelligent Networked Vehicle" (INV), "Telematics" and "Infotainment" are being used to describe them. Because Telematics usually refers to automotive and traffic specific applications, while Infotainment reflects the perspective of the consumer electronics world, in this paper, Sun will use INV to describe next-generation automotive electronics systems.
