If you are a line-of-business manager, you own business applications that rely on several such data stores. If your line of business is part of a large enterprise, such as a Fortune 1000 company, your enterprise may rely on hundreds of data stores. Unfortunately, the data stores themselves create a barrier to the success of your line of business and, by extension, the success of your enterprise. This barrier is the difficulty of managing identity data (user access privilege and profile information) stored in multiple, disparate data stores. Sun calls this difficulty "Identity Anarchy".
