Larsen & Toubro Limited is India's largest engineering and construction organization with leading edge capabilities in fields related to infrastructure and basic industries. The biggest challenge faced by L&T ECC was that IT usage in the Indian construction industry was in its incipient stage. There was no established IT product or solution to meet the specific requirements of managing information and projects on a large scale and spread over a wide geographical network. Traditional ERP solutions available were rigid and catered to a limited number of people and projects. To tackle the inefficiencies in a traditional ERP system, L&T ECC decided to opt for the implementation of an Enterprise Information Portal based on Microsoft technologies.
