Pacific Life's Life Insurance Division knew that XML Web services would be the best way to exchange data with their business associates, but they needed a development and deployment platform that would allow them to create an enterprise class solution without investing huge amounts of time, effort, and money. Pacific Life's Life Insurance Division has built three applications with Microsoft .NET. One is an XML Web service that provides daily investment information for Pacific Life fund products. The second is a rewrite of their policy owner Web site in Microsoft ASP.NET, and the third is a Web service that is currently used by the middle tier of the policy owner Web site, and will be used by other applications within the company.
