This white paper makes one aware of the options available for heterogeneous data access from an iSeries application. The iSeries applications send SQL requests to DB2 Information Integrator via DRDA; then, DB2 Information Integrator translates that request into a language (e.g. ODBC) that the third-party database (e.g. SQL Server) can understand. When the third-party finishes the requested task, DB2 Information Integrator sends the results of the database request back to the iSeries application via DRDA.
