This paper discusses the JXTA security technologies and their application, and presents some brief examples that illustrate how they might be employed in common P2P computing scenarios such as security during transport, dealing with firewalls, authentication, etc. This paper indicates that security is not implicit in the JXTA framework, rather the JXTA framework provides the means for strong security to be implemented using well-understood, trusted approaches.
