The objective of this paper is to demonstrate that the use of turbo codes can both improve the overall system performance in OCDMA networks and even allow more simultaneously transmitting users than is the spreading length of the optical orthogonal sequence. The paper also describes a channel model for the bit asynchronous OCDMA system and discusses its information theoretical capacity when single-user detection is applied.
