The aim of this paper is to discuss a new receiver concept that will improve advanced TDMA system radio-link performance. To demonstrate the usefulness of their approach, researchers choose to adopt the system parameters of Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) in simulations. The disclosed receiver is based on a sub-optimal trellis-based Soft-In Soft-Out (SISO) equalizer and SISO decoder.
