This paper presents a simulation of a dual mode receiver with special emphasis on the digital IF (Intermediate Frequency) for W-CDMA (Wide band Code Division Multiple Access) and EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) formats. Three areas will be explored in this simulation: generation of W_CDMA and EDGE RF (Radio Frequency) transmitted signals and their down conversion to a first IF at 69.12 MHz; the details of an efficient digital IF section including final demodulation of the signals to baseband; and finally the frequency, time domains and EVM (Error Vector Magnitude) measurements.
