Often when a software development effort is not running smoothly, a tough decision has to be made. The team can stay the course, and hope to meet the project deadline despite its disorganization. Or, the team can take time to adopt a new approach, and try to recoup the time spent through improved efficiency. The team at Lockheed Martin recently encountered such a scenario with a government client that was struggling with inadequate change management tools. With help from IBM Rational consultants and Rational University, the Lockheed Martin team was able to provide training to the client on an effective software configuration management solution that included IBM Rational ClearCase and IBM Rational ClearQuest.
